H. Thomas (Tom) Shaw

Tom Shaw is an associate with Alexander & Vann, LLP.  Tom defends our private and corporate clients in a wide range of legal matters.  Before joining Alexander & Vann, LLP, Tom was an associate at Alston & Bird LLP in Atlanta, Ga., where he represented clients in a variety of complex litigation and mediation matters across the United States.  He previously clerked for the Honorable Marc T. Treadwell in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. 

Tom earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Mercer Law Review and was inducted into the Brainerd Currie Honor Society.  Tom was also awarded the Faculty Legal Writing Award and named to the National Order of Scribes for excellence in legal writing.  Before law school, he received a B.A. in history from the University of Georgia, where he graduated with honors.

Tom is a member of the Defense Research Institute, Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, and is the Middle District Representative for the Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Georgia.  Tom also serves on the board of directors for the Marguerite Neel Williams Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Georgia and the board of directors  for Thomasville Landmarks.  In his spare time, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs.
